There are some people who are just doing life right. They’re out in the world living their passions, doing what they love, and by virtue, are total badasses.
1. tough, uncompromising, or intimidating.
I put together a short list of female outdoorsmen that epitomize the word, based solely on the fact that I follow them on Instagram and I say so.
Humor me in a tale of pure speculation to help illustrate what exactly I mean by “badass.” None of these musings are known to me as facts or true knowledge.
In imagination world, I would venture to guess that these women didn’t have their dream lifestyle dropped into their lap. I imagine that they worked for it, went through trials and came to crossroads where sacrifices were made and adversity was not considered a blessing.
Tough. I am willing to bet... at least a few of these women were toughened by misfortune, sparking a series of life-changing risks and choices. Perhaps they grinded day in and day out, living moments that aren’t made for Instagram, where the heavy lifting is hard and doubt runs rampant.
Uncompromising. And isn't it likely that if they busted their ass for something, they would be unwilling to concede to others by changing their ways or opinions? Standing strong and firm, charging forward against the status quo?
Intimidating. As outsiders, we're easily intimidated by the experience, skill and fortitude of those we admire in the distant corners of the interweb. In person, I like to think they'd sip whiskey with me and you on a mountaintop or creek bank, griping about chronic indigestion and sharing stories of that time they embarrassed themselves at the family reunion.
Regardless of how accurate my offhand ramblings may or may not be, here are six women who are undeniably more badass than your boyfriend.

I'm often asked what my favorite fish is and that's a really hard question for me because I love to eat a wide variety of different fish, depending on where I am and what my body is craving. I think it's important to learn to appreciate a wide variety of fish, starting from even the smallest ones on the food chain. It's so much healthier for us (and our oceans) to eat this way rather than only target the same handful of species globally -obviously if one species collapses, it affects everything. I find eating a variety of fish to be much more balanced and more delicious! But if I had to choose one favorite reef fish, I'd probably choose this fish, the mu. They are extremely tricky to hunt, smart, illusive fish. They have molars for eating crustaceans and sea urchins and they honestly seem to levitate rather than swim like normal fish. They can be cooked or served raw and are always sweet and delicious. Photo by @perrinjames1 @yeti

Do you ever start complaining to someone and suddenly you can't stop? The break lines are cut. You're careening down a road of negativity and all you can do is hope the airbag isn't faulty. Trying not to be that driver. Trying to be the one at the wheel of the car where people buckle up, grab the "oh shit" handle, and get ready for a weird and wild ride. My dad always used to ask: "Do you want to have a good time or do you want to have a bad time?" And it's kind of that simple. Because, sure, life sucks sometimes, but not most of the time, and hitting the gas is a whole lot better than complaining about it. #defendersoffun #vivalosfunhogs #seeyououtthere #getgoing

There are a few things that get my blood boiling... This is one of them. Bow season opens tomorrow in our zone in Florida. Time to fill the freezer with venison, laugh by a campfire and watch our Catahoula's learn how to blood trail. It's almost like Christmas Eve but better!!! @captgd @floutdoors #FLoutdoors @kuiu_official #KUIU @yeti #builtforthewild @bowtecharcherywomen #refusetofollow Lense by @brettsengphoto
